Description

Bollinger Grande Année 1999 in jeroboam format is a rare expression of one of Champagne’s most respected houses, made only in limited quantities from the finest fruit of the vintage. Sourced largely from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, it captures the depth, structure and aging finesse that have long defined Bollinger’s style.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a refined, golden hue with a persistent mousse and impressive presence befitting the jeroboam format. The bouquet opens with ripe apple and pear, followed by layered notes of honey, toasted nuts and gentle spice. On the palate, it is rich and expansive, yet kept vibrant by precise freshness and a firm, elegant backbone. The finish is long and poised, with the structure to continue developing beautifully for many years, especially in this large-format bottle.

Production
The grapes for La Grande Année 1999 come from carefully selected Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites in Champagne, where the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay were harvested in a favorable vintage. Bollinger’s traditional approach and extended lees aging contribute to the wine’s depth, texture and signature complexity, while the jeroboam format supports a slower and more graceful evolution in bottle.

Food & Serving
Ideal with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, turbot, truffle risotto or roasted poultry, as well as aged Comté or Parmesan. Serve chilled at around 8-10°C; decanting is generally not necessary, though a brief rest in the glass can help the wine fully unfold.

Producer
Champagne Bollinger is one of the most iconic houses in Champagne, renowned for its powerful, vinous style and uncompromising quality. Founded in 1829, the house has earned a stellar reputation for producing structured, long-lived Champagnes, with La Grande Année standing among its most prestigious cuvées.
