Description

Boizel Champagne Joyau Extra Brut 2008 is a refined prestige cuvée that showcases the elegance and precision for which Boizel is known. Crafted from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it combines freshness, depth and remarkable finesse, making it a standout expression of a top Champagne vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, luminous gold tone with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is layered and expressive, offering notes of citrus zest, white flowers, ripe stone fruit, toasted brioche and subtle mineral complexity. On the palate, it is taut and beautifully structured, with extra-brut dryness lending focus to the wine’s crisp citrus, orchard fruit and delicate pastry nuances. The texture is elegant rather than broad, with impressive balance and a long, precise finish. This is a Champagne with excellent cellaring potential, and it should continue to gain richness and complexity over time.

Production
Joyau is sourced from carefully selected Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Champagne, where chalk-rich soils help preserve freshness and drive mineral tension. The blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is crafted to highlight both purity and structure, with meticulous vinification designed to protect aromatic detail and refinement. As with prestige cuvées of this style, the emphasis is on careful selection, slow maturation and a finish that reflects both the vineyard origin and the vintage character.

Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs beautifully with oysters, caviar, scallops, sashimi, lobster and other delicately prepared seafood, as well as fine poultry dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and consider a short decant only if it is needed to soften the wine’s youthful tension and allow the bouquet to open more fully.

Producer
Boizel is a respected family Champagne house founded in 1834 in Épernay, at the heart of the region. Known for its classic style, attention to detail and commitment to balance and precision, the house has built a strong reputation for elegant, terroir-driven Champagnes, with Joyau standing as one of its notable prestige expressions.
