Bodegas Valduero Tierra Alta En 2 Maderas 2018 Magnum is a distinctive Ribera del Duero Tempranillo that combines concentration, finesse, and a generous magnum format for added aging potential. Made from old vines grown at high altitude, it reflects the character of one of Spain’s most respected red-wine regions, with the added complexity that comes from careful maturation in two different types of oak.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep cherry-red color with vivid violet reflections. The nose is expressive and layered, offering ripe red and dark berries, spice, vanilla, and subtle toasted notes from the oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-balanced, with silky tannins, refined structure, and a long, elegant finish. Thanks to the magnum format and the wine’s natural depth, it has very good aging potential and should continue to evolve beautifully over time.

Production
The wine comes from high-altitude vineyards in Ribera del Duero, where old Tempranillo vines are rooted in limestone and clay soils. These conditions help produce fruit with intensity, freshness, and complexity. After a careful harvest and fermentation, the wine matures for 14 months in two different types of oak barrels, a process that builds texture, spice, and balance before additional bottle aging brings extra polish.

This is an excellent match for grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, game, rich stews, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 1 hour if drinking young, especially to allow the wine’s aromas and structure to open fully.
