Subtle hints of graphite, crushed stone, liquorice, and a gentle smoky spice reveal the wine’s mineral Bierzo origins and careful oak aging. On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet concentrated, with a silky texture and lively acidity that carries the wine through a long, precise finish. In the cellar, Bodegas Demencia de Autor focuses on expressing terroir: fermentation often takes place in small vats with native yeasts, followed by aging in quality oak barrels (usually French) to add structure and complexity without overwhelming the varietal character. The result is a wine that combines the freshness and aromatic lift of Mencía with the depth and elegance that come from meticulous, small-scale winemaking.
