Berlucchi ’61 Extra Brut is a vibrant Franciacorta made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, offering a drier, more restrained style of traditional-method sparkling wine. Its name honours the 1961 release widely recognised as the beginning of Franciacorta’s modern sparkling-wine story.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw in colour with a fine, persistent mousse, it opens with aromas of citrus, green apple and white flowers, alongside subtle notes of bread and pastry. The palate is crisp and lively, balancing fresh fruit with a dry finish and refreshing acidity.

Production
Made in Franciacorta, Lombardy, where glacial and morainic soils contribute to the region’s distinctive wines, this non-vintage blend combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It is produced using the traditional method, with its second fermentation in bottle—a defining feature of Franciacorta sparkling wine.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, around 6–8°C, as an aperitif or alongside oysters, seafood, sushi and delicate fried dishes. Its freshness also suits soft cheeses and light starters. Decanting is not recommended; serve directly after opening to preserve the bubbles.

Producer
Berlucchi’s story is closely linked to the emergence of Franciacorta as a centre for bottle-fermented sparkling wine. In 1961, Guido Berlucchi and enologist Franco Ziliani produced the first Franciacorta sparkling wine, helping establish a style and region that would become internationally recognised. The ’61 range commemorates that milestone.
