Begali Lorenzo’s Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso 2020 is a standout example of how elevated Ripasso can be when the fruit and craftsmanship are fully in sync. Made with the traditional second-fermentation method using the dried Amarone skins from the estate, it brings extra depth, richness, and complexity while staying beautifully balanced and approachable.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its intensity. The nose opens with dark cherries, ripe plums, and raisins, followed by layered notes of balsamic, cinnamon, cocoa, and a subtle smoky edge. On the palate, it is generous and expressive, combining ripe red berry fruit with fresh Mediterranean herbs and a supple, silky texture. The finish is long and smooth, with enough structure to suggest very good aging potential over the coming years.

Production
This Ripasso is built from 65% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, and 5% other local varieties from Veneto’s Valpolicella Classico zone. After the second fermentation on the estate’s Amarone grape skins, the wine matures for 12 months in oak casks, adding roundness, spice, and a more inviting overall profile.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted meats, braised dishes, game, mushroom risotto, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider a short decant if opening it young to let the aromas fully unfold.
