Banfi Toscana La Pettegola Rosè 2024 is a vibrant Tuscan rosé that captures the sun-drenched charm of Italy’s central coast. Crafted from Merlot and Sangiovese, it offers a perfect balance between lively acidity and a soft, enveloping texture, making it effortlessly drinkable yet subtly complex. As part of Banfi’s modern Tuscan range, this wine continues the estate’s tradition of bringing an elegant, contemporary touch to classic regional varieties.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, La Pettegola Rosè 2024 shows a delicate, luminous pink hue with subtle salmon reflections, hinting at its freshness and finesse. The nose is bright and inviting, with aromas of wild strawberries, white cherries, pomegranate, and red currants, layered with floral notes of rose petals and a twist of citrus zest.
On the palate, the wine is crisp and refreshing, yet rounded by a gentle, caressing softness. Juicy red berry fruit—strawberry and raspberry—meets hints of blood orange and a faint herbal nuance typical of Tuscan hillsides. The lively acidity keeps everything lifted and clean, while the finish is dry, graceful, and pleasantly persistent. Enjoy it in its youth for peak vibrancy; while it can rest for a year or two, this rosé is made to be savored fresh for its pure, fruit-driven charm.
Production
Sourced from select vineyards in Tuscany, La Pettegola Rosè 2024 reflects the region’s sunny Mediterranean climate, cooling breezes, and well-drained soils that help Merlot and Sangiovese retain aromatic intensity and freshness. Grapes are typically harvested in the cooler hours to preserve their natural acidity and delicate aromas, then gently pressed to extract just the right level of color and flavor. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to lock in fruit purity and crispness, with the wine resting briefly on fine lees to gain a smooth, rounded mouthfeel before bottling.
Food & Serving
This Tuscan rosé is an excellent match for light antipasti, charcuterie, fresh salads, and seafood dishes such as grilled prawns, seared tuna, or seafood risotto. It also pairs beautifully with margherita pizza, caprese salad, and simple pasta dishes featuring tomatoes, basil, or shellfish. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its vibrant acidity and delicate fruit. Decanting is not necessary; simply open the bottle a few minutes before serving to let the aromas unfold.
Producer
Banfi is one of Tuscany’s most renowned and pioneering estates, founded in the late 1970s with a vision to showcase the region’s full potential on the world stage. Based in Montalcino, Banfi played a key role in elevating Tuscan wines—especially Brunello di Montalcino—through meticulous vineyard research, sustainability initiatives, and a focus on quality at every level. Today, Banfi is celebrated not only for its iconic reds but also for its expressive whites and rosés, such as La Pettegola, which highlight a modern, approachable side of Tuscan winemaking while maintaining a strong sense of place.
