Aston Estate Pinot Noir 2020

Aston Estate Pinot Noir 2020 is a dark, beautifully layered Sonoma County Pinot Noir that shows Thomas Rivers Brown at his most expressive. Made entirely from Dijon clone fruit, it offers a fuller, more powerful style than many of his better-known Pinot Noirs, while still keeping the elegance and precision that make his wines so sought after.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark colour that hints at its richness right away. The nose opens with blackberries, dark cherries, redcurrants, blood orange, bay leaf and star anise, creating a complex and inviting aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is plush and fruit-driven, with ripe dark berry flavours wrapped in a fresh, lifted line that keeps everything balanced and refined. It has the structure and depth to develop further with bottle age, though it is already highly appealing now.

Production
The grapes come from Aston Estate’s own vineyard in the Annapolis area of Sonoma County, close to the Pacific coast, where cool maritime influence helps preserve freshness and definition in the fruit. The wine is made from Dijon clone Pinot Noir only, which contributes to its darker, more concentrated style and distinctive texture.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir pairs well with roasted duck, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, herb-crusted pork, and dishes with earthy or savoury elements. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 14–16°C, and consider decanting for 20–30 minutes if enjoying it young to help the wine open up.
