Description

Arthur Metz Crémant d'Alsace Brut 2022 is a refined traditional-method sparkling wine from one of Alsace’s most established houses. Crafted to offer Champagne-like elegance at a more approachable price, it delivers crisp freshness, fine bubbles and a distinctly Alsatian character. As one of the region’s benchmark Crémants, it showcases the cool-climate finesse and precision that have made Alsace sparkling wines so sought after.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Crémant d’Alsace shows a bright, pale straw-yellow hue with silvery reflections and a steady stream of very fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is expressive yet precise, opening with notes of green apple, lemon zest and crunchy pear, followed by hints of white flowers, fresh brioche and a gentle mineral edge. On the palate, it is dry and lively, with a vibrant mousse and a clean, linear structure. Flavours of citrus, orchard fruits and white peach are layered with light biscuity tones and a touch of almond, leading to a refreshing, well-balanced finish. Enjoy it now for its energy and clarity; over the next 2–3 years it will gain a touch more creaminess and complexity while retaining its freshness.

Production
This Crémant d’Alsace is sourced from vineyards in the cool, sunny foothills of the Vosges Mountains, where limestone and marl soils help deliver both tension and aromatic purity. Grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve acidity—often a blend of classic Alsatian white varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Chardonnay and possibly Pinot Gris, with some Pinot Noir for structure. Vinification follows the traditional method: a gentle pressing, followed by a primary fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks, then a secondary fermentation in bottle to create the natural sparkle. The wine is aged on its lees to build texture and delicate autolytic notes, before disgorgement and a carefully judged dosage to achieve a balanced Brut style.

Food & Serving
Arthur Metz Crémant d’Alsace Brut 2022 is a versatile aperitif and food-friendly sparkling. It pairs beautifully with oysters, prawns, sushi and other delicate seafood, as well as light canapés, goat cheese, smoked fish, tempura vegetables and fresh salads. It also works well with mild poultry dishes and soft, bloomy-rind cheeses. Serve well-chilled at 6–8°C for maximum freshness. Decanting is not necessary; simply open the bottle a few minutes before serving to let the aromatics unfurl in the glass.

Producer
Founded in 1904, Arthur Metz is one of Alsace’s most prominent and respected producers, with deep roots in the region’s winegrowing history. Based in Marlenheim, at the northern gateway to the Alsace Wine Route, the house has played a key role in establishing Crémant d’Alsace as one of France’s leading traditional-method sparkling wines. Working closely with a network of dedicated growers, Arthur Metz combines modern winemaking technology with a strong sense of regional identity, regularly earning high praise and medals for the precision, consistency and value of its sparkling and still wines.
