Description

Anselmet’s Torrette Superiore is an elegant Aosta Valley red, blending Petit Rouge, Fumin and Cornalin from high-altitude vineyards. Aged in French oak, it balances bright red-fruit character with a subtle smoky, spicy edge; Maison Anselmet has championed the region’s demanding mountain viticulture since 1978.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby in colour, the wine opens with aromas of red fruit, violet, incense and liquorice, complemented by a gentle smoky note. The palate is fresh, rounded and supple, with a balanced finish marked by a touch of black pepper. No specific aging guidance is provided; enjoy it for its fresh fruit and lively character.

Production
The grapes come from steep, high-density vineyards around Villeneuve, planted at 750–900 metres above sea level on sandy moraine soils. This form of heroic viticulture, paired with low yields, encourages concentration while preserving freshness. After careful harvesting, fermentation lasts around 15–20 days, followed by maturation in French oak barriques with bâtonnage on the lees to build texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
Try it with roast meats, grilled sausages, mushroom dishes or Alpine cheeses. Serve lightly cool, around 16–18°C; a brief decant of 20–30 minutes can help the aromas open, though it is not essential.

Producer
Maison Anselmet has been making wine in the Aosta Valley since 1978, with a focus on the region’s steep, high-altitude vineyards and the challenges of heroic viticulture. The estate’s work with local varieties such as Petit Rouge, Fumin and Cornalin helps express the distinctive character of this mountain wine region.
