Andremily No. 9, 2020

Andremily No. 9 2020 is a striking Syrah-led red from Santa Barbara, crafted by Jim Binns, whose background at cult producer Sine Qua Non shows in the wine’s depth, precision, and polish. Inspired by the great wines of the Northern Rhône, it blends Syrah with a touch of Mourvèdre and Viognier to create a wine that feels both powerful and finely detailed.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a dark, насыщенный core that hints at its concentration and intensity. The nose opens with blackcurrant and blackberry, layered with peppery spice and a delicate violet character that adds lift and perfume. The palate is full-bodied and richly textured, yet remarkably graceful, with supple tannins and fresh acidity keeping the wine balanced. Mourvèdre adds structure and depth, while the long, persistent finish invites slow drinking and will reward several years of cellaring.

Production
The wine is sourced from a blend of vineyards including Slide Hill, White Hawk, Larner, Harrison-Clarke, Kimsey, and Alta Mesa, each contributing to the wine’s layered expression of Santa Barbara terroir. It was matured for 22 months in French oak barrels, with 65% new oak, giving the wine additional complexity, texture, and subtle spice without overwhelming the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a natural match for rich, flavorful dishes such as grilled lamb, beef short ribs, braised duck, or roasted game. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least an hour to let the wine fully open and show its aromatic detail.
