Andremily Grenache, 2018

Andremily Grenache 2018 is a bold, polished California take on Grenache, shaped by Jim Binns’ deep understanding of terroir and his instinctive, freedom-first approach to winemaking. Drawing inspiration from the great blends of Châteauneuf-du-Pape while adding a subtle Spanish twist with Graciano, it’s a modern cuvée with serious old-world reference points and real personality.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is a full-bodied red with an inviting depth of color and a rich, vibrant core of fruit. The nose opens with layers of red and dark berries, lifted by Grenache’s hallmark fresh herbal and spice notes, while the palate delivers generous fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a beautifully integrated acidity that keeps everything lively and focused. Despite its richness, the wine never feels heavy; instead, it combines power with finesse and a supple texture that makes it especially compelling now, while still offering the structure to evolve gracefully over time. With its balance of ripeness, freshness, and layered complexity, it should continue to drink well for several years.

Production
Produced in California from Grenache with a nod to traditional Southern Rhône blending philosophy, this cuvée reflects a dogma-free approach that emphasizes quality and precision over convention. The wine was aged for 21 months, with 50% matured in a combination of new French 225-liter barriques and 600-liter demi-muids, and the remaining 50% aged in used French barriques, helping build texture and complexity while preserving the fruit’s energy.

Food & Serving
This Grenache is an excellent match for roasted lamb, grilled beef, duck, or richly seasoned dishes such as herb-crusted pork and Mediterranean-style lamb stew. It also pairs well with hard cheeses and dishes featuring rosemary, thyme, or smoky spices. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about an hour if opening young to let the aromatics and structure fully unfold.
