Andremily EABA, 2019

Andremily EABA 2019 is a striking California Rhône-style blend that shows just how confidently Jim Binns works with Syrah and its blending partners. Built in the spirit of great Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it combines power, nuance, and precision in a wine that already drinks beautifully, yet clearly has more to reveal with time.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it is deep and intense, with the dark, vibrant color you expect from a serious Syrah-based blend. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark cherry, lifted by savory notes of black olives, cracked pepper, and a touch of rosemary and thyme. The palate is bold and layered, with concentrated dark fruit, a salt-kissed edge, and a firm, textured grip from the Mourvèdre. The wine’s structure gives it real presence and length, while the blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Viognier adds complexity, freshness, and aromatic lift. It is enjoyable now, but will reward cellaring over the coming years.

Production
EABA 2019 is composed of 61% Syrah, 24% Mourvèdre, 13% Grenache, and 2% Viognier. The blend changes from vintage to vintage, with Jim Binns adjusting the proportions carefully to suit the character of the year and capture the best expression of each grape. The wine was aged for 22 months in oak barrels, 55% of them new, giving it added depth and polish without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a natural match for grilled ribeye, lamb chops, braised short ribs, or roasted game, especially with herbs, black pepper, or Mediterranean-style seasoning. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to let the wine fully open.
