Alois Lageder Cason Bianco 2022

Alois Lageder Cason Bianco 2022 is a distinctive Alto Adige white wine blending Viognier’s expressive character with the freshness of Petit Manseng. Made from biodynamically farmed vineyards at the Casòn Hirschprunn estate, it brings together ripe, layered fruit and a striking mineral, saline edge.

Tasting Notes
Bright golden yellow in the glass, it opens with aromas of candied citrus, ripe fruit, vanilla and exotic spice, followed by a subtle toasted note. The palate is powerful and layered, balancing generous, rounded flavours with lively freshness and a pronounced mineral salinity.

Production
The grapes come from Casòn Hirschprunn vineyards in Magrè, in the Bassa Atesina, where vines aged around 20 to 60 years grow at 230–360 metres above sea level. Sandy, stony soils with dolomitic limestone and some clay, together with low yields and organic, biodynamic farming, contribute to the wine’s mineral character. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts in wooden vessels of different sizes. The wine rests on fine lees in wood for about 11 months, is blended roughly a year and a half after harvest, and then spends a further year in bottle before release. Harvesting methods are not specified.

Food & Serving
Serve with seafood risotto, shellfish, lighter meats or mild cheeses; its freshness and savoury mineral character complement both delicate seafood and richer preparations. Serve lightly chilled. The wine’s layered structure may benefit from a little time in the glass, though no specific decanting requirement is provided.
