Description

Albert Pic Chablis 1er Cru Pic Premier 265° 2022 is a refined expression of Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s most iconic white wine regions. Crafted exclusively from premier cru vineyards around Chablis, it balances purity, precision and depth in a distinctly mineral-driven style. The “265°” name nods to the exacting approach of the house, capturing the cool, northerly character that has made Chablis world‑famous for crisp, terroir‑transparent wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Chablis 1er Cru shows a pale lemon hue with green reflections, signaling its youth and freshness. The nose is immediately Chablisien: notes of lemon zest, green apple, and white peach are layered over crushed oyster shell, wet stone, and a hint of white flowers, with a subtle touch of brioche or almond emerging as it opens. On the palate, the wine is finely etched and linear, with bright acidity and a pronounced saline minerality running through the core of citrus and orchard fruit. Flavors of lemon, grapefruit, and pear mingle with chalk, sea breeze, and a delicate creaminess that rounds the edges without ever feeling heavy. The finish is long, clean and mouthwatering, leaving a trail of citrus peel and stone. While already very enjoyable in its youth, this 2022 has the structure and acidity to evolve beautifully over the next 5–8 years, gaining complexity, honeyed nuances, and more pronounced hazelnut and tertiary notes with time in bottle.

Production
The grapes for Albert Pic Chablis 1er Cru Pic Premier 265° 2022 are sourced from premier cru sites rooted in classic Kimmeridgian limestone and clay soils, rich in ancient marine fossils that give Chablis its hallmark flinty, saline character. The cool continental climate and north‑northeast exposures help preserve tension and aromatic precision in the Chardonnay. Harvesting is carried out at optimal ripeness, typically by machine with careful selection, to ensure healthy, concentrated berries that retain vibrant acidity. In the cellar, fermentation takes place mainly in temperature‑controlled stainless steel to safeguard freshness and purity of fruit, with possible partial maturation on fine lees to add texture and subtle complexity. The result is a wine that expresses the terroir with clarity, without heavy oak influence.

Food & Serving
This premier cru Chablis is a natural partner for seafood and refined, delicately flavored dishes. Think freshly shucked oysters, poached or grilled white fish, scallops, sushi and sashimi, or shellfish in light cream or beurre blanc. It also pairs beautifully with goat cheese, young Comté, roasted chicken with herbs, and vegetable dishes featuring asparagus, fennel, or leeks. Serve well‑chilled but not icy, ideally around 10–12°C (50–54°F), to allow the aromatics and texture to unfold. A brief 20–30 minutes in a decanter or simply opening the bottle a bit before serving can help the wine open up, especially in its first few years of life.

Producer
One of the oldest houses in Chablis, Albert Pic et Fils traces its roots back to the 18th century and has long been devoted exclusively to the production of Chardonnay from this unique northern Burgundian terroir. Based in the heart of Chablis, the estate has played an important role in shaping the region’s reputation for elegant, mineral‑driven white wines. Now under the ownership of Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, Albert Pic combines centuries‑old tradition with modern precision in the vineyard and cellar, focusing on clear expressions of Chablis at village, premier cru and grand cru levels. Their wines are known for their purity, tension and age‑worthiness, making them a reference point for lovers of classic Chablis around the world.
