Albert Bichot’s Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru 'Les Amoureuses' 2020 Magnum is a refined expression of one of Burgundy’s most celebrated terroirs, presented here in a format that helps preserve freshness and extend graceful development. Sourced from the iconic “Les Amoureuses” climat in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, this Pinot Noir is prized for its delicate, feminine style and its reputation as one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most coveted Premier Crus.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the luminous elegance typical of great Chambolle-Musigny, with a bright, graceful color and a poised presence. The nose opens with redcurrant and strawberry, then unfolds into more layered notes of fig and leather, adding depth and complexity without losing finesse.
On the palate, the wine is silky and beautifully structured, with supple tannins, seamless oak integration, and remarkable balance. Its charm lies in its combination of delicacy and concentration, and while it is already highly expressive, the magnum format gives it excellent potential for slow, graceful ageing over the coming years.
Production
Les Amoureuses lies between Vougeot and Morey-Saint-Denis, in one of the most prestigious parts of Côte de Nuits, where Chambolle-Musigny’s limestone-rich soils help produce wines of finesse, perfume, and texture. Albert Bichot crafts this Premier Cru with an emphasis on precision and terroir expression, aiming to preserve the vineyard’s natural elegance and aromatic complexity through careful harvesting and vinification.
Food & Serving
This wine is a superb match for dishes that complement its subtle power and perfume, such as duck breast, veal, roast quail, pigeon, or mushroom-based dishes like risotto or truffle pasta. Serve at 16–18°C and decant gently for around 30–60 minutes if drinking young, allowing the aromas to open without stripping away its delicate character.
