Aalto PS 2020 is the more concentrated, more powerful expression of Aalto, built for fans of deeply structured Ribera del Duero wines. Made from old-vine Tempranillo sourced from selected parcels in La Horra and La Aguilera, it delivers remarkable intensity, finesse and depth. With its near-black color and grand scale, it stands as a modern benchmark of Castilla y León’s ability to produce wines of both power and complexity.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is almost inky-black, hinting at the concentration within. The nose is fresh and fruit-driven, with blueberries, blackberries and dark plums layered over pronounced oak notes and a touch of chocolate. The palate is opulent and richly textured, unfolding with blackberry, plum liqueur, licorice, vanilla, spice, coffee beans and tobacco. Despite its intensity, the wine remains structured and nuanced, with considerable complexity and excellent aging potential. It is impressive now, but will continue to evolve beautifully over time.

Production
Aalto PS comes from carefully selected plots in La Horra and La Aguilera, where 60- to 90-year-old vines contribute naturally low yields and exceptional concentration. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, followed by meticulous sorting before vinification. The wine is aged for 19 months in new French oak barrels, which adds polish, spice and additional depth to the final blend.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that deserves equally serious food, especially richly flavored dishes such as dry-aged beef, grilled ribeye or slow-roasted lamb. If opening now, serve at around 16-18°C and consider decanting to allow the wine to open up and soften its powerful structure.
