Description

From a densely planted parcel over a limestone seam in Hochheim, this 2023 Rheingau Chardonnay combines Burgundian-inspired depth with the region’s signature precision. Its restrained use of new oak and extended lees ageing give it both texture and a clear expression of its limestone-and-clay origins.

Tasting Notes
No specific colour description is provided. The nose offers yellow fruit, citrus and white flowers, layered with subtle nutty and buttery notes. On the palate, the wine is taut yet creamy, with precise acidity and a saline limestone character. Its finish is long, elegant and lightly smoky. Production
The vines grow in Hochheim, where the Main’s influence and limestone- and clay-rich soils shape the fruit. Grapes come from a densely planted parcel over a limestone seam. The wine is fermented and matured in Halbstück and pièce barrels, with around 20% new oak, then kept on its full lees for 12 months before spending a further 12 months in stainless steel. It is bottled unfiltered with minimal sulphur to preserve its expression of terroir.

Food & Serving
