The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru 'Les Gouttes d’Or' from Domaine Vincent Latour is a classic Burgundy white from one of Meursault’s most revered Premier Cru sites. Drawn from a tiny 0.102-hectare parcel of old vines, it combines concentration, precision, and a strong sense of place in a style that beautifully reflects both the vineyard and the vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a luminous golden-straw color with impressive clarity. The nose opens with ripe citrus, mirabelle plum, and a hint of almond, layered with subtle toasted notes from the élevage. On the palate, it is powerful yet finely judged, with a creamy texture, vibrant freshness, and a saline mineral core that gives the wine real drive and depth. The finish is long, complex, and finely etched, carrying fruit, spice, and a whisper of oak in perfect balance. Thanks to the structure and concentration of the 2020 vintage, this wine has excellent aging potential and should continue to gain nuance and polish over the next decade or more.

Production
Les Gouttes d’Or is one of Meursault’s benchmark Premier Cru vineyards, known for its limestone-rich marl soils with flint inclusions, which lend the wine its signature mineral tension and elegance. The vines used here were planted in 1982, and the small parcel size allows for low-yield, highly expressive fruit. Harvest is carried out by hand, followed by gentle pressing and spontaneous fermentation in barrel, with around 30% new oak used to support rather than dominate the wine. The wine is aged for 12 months on its fine lees in barrel, then rested for a further six months in stainless steel. No bâtonnage is used, preserving clarity, freshness, and a pure expression of terroir.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for scallops, lobster, premium white fish, roast veal, poultry, or a well-aged Comté. Serve lightly chilled at around 11–13°C. Decanting is not essential for younger bottles, but a short decant can help open the wine and highlight its layered aromatics.
