Opus One 2019 is one of Napa Valley’s great flagship wines: a celebrated Bordeaux-style blend born from the partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. Crafted in Oakville from meticulously selected parcels, it brings together old-world structure and new-world richness in a wine of remarkable precision, depth, and prestige.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, concentrated colour that hints at its power and intensity. The nose is layered and polished, with aromas of cassis, black cherry, blackberry, and plum, lifted by violet, cedar, graphite, mocha, and dark chocolate. On the palate, Opus One 2019 is full-bodied yet impeccably balanced, with fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and a core of ripe dark fruit. The finish is long, refined, and subtly mineral, suggesting excellent aging potential over the coming decades.

Production
The vineyards are planted in the heart of Napa Valley, where gravelly alluvial soils, warm sunny days, and cool nights help produce fruit with concentration, freshness, and elegance. The grapes are hand-harvested parcel by parcel and carefully sorted before vinification, followed by around 18 months of maturation in new French oak barrels and additional bottle aging to build complexity and harmony.

Food & Serving
This is a wine built for classic premium pairings such as dry-aged beef, lamb rack, game, and slow-braised short ribs. It also works beautifully with truffle dishes, mature hard cheeses, and refined gourmet cuisine. Serve at 16–18°C and decant for at least 1–2 hours, especially if opened young.
