Description

The 2014 Dizy 'Terres Rouges' Extra Brut from Jacquesson is a terroir-driven single-parcel Champagne that showcases the power and precision of Pinot Noir from one of Dizy’s most distinctive sites. With its low dosage, parcel-by-parcel winemaking and long lees aging, it offers a pure expression of place, vintage and house style in equal measure.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Champagne shows a pale golden hue with a fine, lively mousse. The nose opens with red berries, blood orange and gentle spice, layered with brioche and subtle toasted notes from extended lees aging. The palate is taut and focused, with ripe fruit framed by bright acidity and a distinctly mineral core. Its saline, lingering finish adds depth and tension, while the structure suggests excellent aging potential over the next several years, and likely longer in a good cellar.

Production
Terres Rouges is a prized single vineyard in Dizy, in the Vallée de la Marne, known for its reddish, iron-rich soils that lend Pinot Noir both structure and a marked mineral character. The grapes were hand-harvested and gently pressed, then fermented with native yeasts and matured mostly in large oak casks before secondary fermentation and several years of lees aging in bottle. Bottled as Extra Brut, the wine is kept deliberately low in dosage to highlight the character of the site and the clarity of the vintage.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is an excellent match for scallops, pan-seared turbot, lobster, poultry with morel mushrooms, veal loin or aged Comté. Serve it chilled at 9–11°C, and consider giving it a little air in the glass or a brief decant if you want the aromatics to open up more fully.

Producer
Jacquesson is one of Champagne’s most respected historic houses, long admired for its vineyard-focused philosophy and precise, transparent winemaking. Based in the region for generations, it has built a strong reputation for crafting exceptional cuvée and parcel-specific bottlings that emphasize terroir over ornamentation. Today, Jacquesson is widely regarded as a benchmark producer for thoughtful, site-expressive Champagne.
