Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz’s Riesling Kastanienbusch Großes Gewächs comes from one of the Pfalz’s most celebrated single vineyards and is presented here in an impressive Magnum format. Grown on iron-rich red slate, this dry Riesling combines powerful structure with pronounced mineral character—hallmarks of the Kastanienbusch terroir and the Grosses Gewächs designation.

Tasting Notes
The Kastanienbusch’s warm, sheltered valley and red Rotliegendes slate give the wine a deep, distinctive sense of place. Expect an expressive nose with flinty and subtly yeasty nuances, hints of dried herbs and hay, followed by increasingly pronounced ripe citrus and exotic fruit as the wine opens in the glass. On the palate, the Riesling is concentrated and finely structured, balancing generous fruit with refreshing acidity and a firm mineral backbone. Its texture and depth suggest excellent aging potential, with the Magnum format particularly well suited to gradual development over time.

Production
The wine is sourced from the approximately 3.5-hectare Kastanienbusch vineyard, where Riesling vines benefit from a warm, wind-protected setting and iron-rich red slate soils. Each parcel is vinified separately following 24 hours of maceration and fermentation and maturation in stainless-steel tanks. Only after this process are the individual lots selected for inclusion in the Grosses Gewächs, or allocated to the estate’s local- or estate-level wines. Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 10–12°C, allowing the wine to warm slightly in the glass as its mineral and citrus nuances unfold. It is an excellent match for roasted or grilled fish, shellfish, poultry, veal and refined vegetable dishes, while its structure can also complement lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Decanting is not essential, but 30–60 minutes of air in a decanter or large Burgundy-style glass can help reveal its full aromatic complexity.
