Weingut Heiligenblut Silvaner Heimersheim 2023

Weingut Heiligenblut’s Silvaner “H” 2023 is a low-intervention Rheinhessen white that gives the region’s historic grape variety a distinctive, gently textured expression. Made from Heimersheim fruit grown on limestone-rich soils, it reflects the Hannemann brothers’ commitment to bringing Silvaner back into focus.

Production
The Silvaner comes from vineyards in Heimersheim, near Alzey in the Rheinhessische Schweiz, where limestone is a defining feature of the soils. After a week of skin contact, the must was pressed and fermented or matured in used barriques without fining. It remained in barrel for around eleven months, then was blended from several barrels and bottled unfiltered and without added sulphur, following a low-intervention approach.

Food & Serving
Try it with asparagus, vegetable dishes, freshwater fish or mild cheeses, which can complement Silvaner’s fresh, savoury character. Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. A short time in the glass can help the yeast-led aromas open; decanting is optional.
