Description

An organic, single-varietal Sylvaner from Bastian Beny in Wintersheim, made from vines approaching 50 years old. Once often associated with simple, everyday wines, Sylvaner is enjoying renewed attention in Rheinhessen, where thoughtful producers are revealing the variety’s character and potential.

Tasting Notes
The nose is marked by floral notes and fresh woodruff, with a delicate hint of citrus. Further details on the wine’s appearance, palate and aging potential are not provided.

Production
The vines grow in southern Rheinhessen on relatively heavy loess-clay soils. The grapes were selectively hand-harvested and pressed very gently over 12 hours. The must went directly into used wooden barrels without settling or clarification, where the wine matured for almost two years; only a minimal addition of sulphur was made shortly before bottling.
