Wayfarer Pinot Noir Golden Mean 2019 is a striking Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that captures the site’s signature sandstone soils and the precision of winemaker Bibiana González Rave. Crafted from Pinot Noir clones 37 and Dijon 777, it leans into vibrant red-fruit character while showing the structure and finesse that have made Wayfarer one of California’s most admired Pinot producers.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color that hints at both concentration and freshness. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of wild strawberries, red cherries, violets, rhubarb, mint, and truffle. The palate follows through with lively red fruit at the core, joined by raspberry, dark plum, and a touch of spice, all carried by a polished texture and a long, elegant finish. It is drinking beautifully now, but has plenty of room to evolve gracefully over the coming years.

Production
This wine comes from Wayfarer Vineyard, where sandstone-rich soils play a major role in shaping the vineyard’s distinctive personality. The fruit was hand-harvested and carefully sorted, then all clusters were fully destemmed before fermentation. Afterward, the wine aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, 67% of which were new, adding refinement, complexity, and subtle spice.

Food & Serving
A versatile and food-friendly Pinot Noir, it pairs especially well with duck, roast chicken, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, and earthy dishes such as truffle pasta or lentils. Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 14–16°C, and consider decanting for 30–45 minutes if opening it young to help the aromatics fully open up.
