Description
Vietti Dolcetto d'Alba Trevie 2024 is a vibrant, fruit‑driven red from one of Piedmont’s most respected family estates. Crafted to be enjoyed young, it captures the pure, everyday-drinking charm of Dolcetto with Vietti’s trademark precision and finesse. The “Trevie” name (often seen as “Tre Vigne”) reflects a selection of fruit from several carefully chosen vineyards, showcasing a complete and harmonious expression of the grape.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Dolcetto d’Alba shows a deep, intense ruby-purple hue, hinting at its youthful energy and generous fruit. The nose is immediately inviting, with aromas of black cherry, ripe plum and wild berries, layered with subtle notes of violet, licorice, and a gentle spice that adds complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
On the palate, the 2024 vintage is juicy and supple, with a medium body and a smooth, fine-grained tannic structure typical of well-made Dolcetto. Flavors of dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry are supported by a refreshing, slightly bitter almond note on the finish—a classic Dolcetto hallmark. The wine is dry, bright, and very food-friendly, with enough freshness to keep each sip lively. While designed to be enjoyed in its youth for maximum fruit expression, it will comfortably evolve over the next 2–4 years, gaining a touch of softness and savory nuance.
Production
The grapes for Vietti Dolcetto d’Alba Trevie 2024 come from selected vineyards in the hills of the Langhe around Alba, where calcareous-clay and marl soils, combined with good elevation and exposure, give Dolcetto both richness and freshness. Harvest is typically carried out by hand to ensure that only healthy, ripe clusters make it to the cellar. After gentle pressing, the wine is fermented in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve the vivid fruit character, with a relatively short maceration to keep tannins polished and approachable. Aging is usually done in stainless steel or neutral vessels, emphasizing purity and immediacy rather than oak influence, before bottling and a brief rest in the cellar prior to release.
Food & Serving
This Dolcetto is a natural partner for classic Italian comfort food: think pizza with rich tomato sauces, pasta with ragù, lasagne, and grilled sausages. It also pairs beautifully with charcuterie, aged and semi-aged cheeses, mushroom dishes, and simple grilled meats or burgers. Serve at around 16–18°C (60–64°F) to showcase its fruit and freshness; a brief 15–20 minute chill in the fridge before serving often works very well. Decanting is not essential, but giving the wine a few minutes in the glass to open up will help the aromatics blossom.

Over generations, the winery has built a reputation for combining traditional craftsmanship with thoughtful innovation, helping to elevate the global profile of Langhe wines. While Vietti is particularly renowned for its Barolo and Barbaresco, its Dolcetto, Barbera and other regional wines are made with the same care, showcasing the everyday wines of Piedmont at a very high level.
