Description
Valentin Leflaive Avize 18|4.0 is an Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs made exclusively from Chardonnay grown in Grand Cru vineyards in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Its precise, mineral style reflects the character of Avize, a village celebrated for its chalk-rich Champagne terroir.
Tasting Notes
Fine bubbles lead into aromas of lemon and grapefruit, complemented by floral notes and a chalky, mineral character. The palate is precise and intense, with lively citrus, delicate mousse and a saline freshness on the finish.
Production
The Chardonnay comes from Grand Cru sites around Avize in the Côte des Blancs, where chalky soils are reflected in the wine’s mineral profile. The cuvée spends 53 months ageing on its lees and is finished with a dosage of 4 g/l. Harvesting and specific vinification details are not provided.
Food & Serving
Pair with scallops, lobster or simply prepared fish, which complement the wine’s citrus and saline character. Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary; open shortly before serving to preserve its fine bubbles.
