Tramin Stoan Bianco 2024

Tramin Stoan Bianco 2024 is a refined Alto Adige white wine built around a harmonious blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc and Traminer Aromatico. Its name, “Stoan”—meaning “stone” in the local dialect—pays tribute to the mineral-rich soils of the vineyards, while the wine’s layered character reflects Cantina Tramin’s long-standing tradition of producing elegant, expressive mountain wines.

Tasting Notes
Bright golden-yellow in the glass, Stoan opens with an intense and complex bouquet of ripe peach, pear and pineapple, complemented by white flowers, gentle spice and subtle hints of tomato leaf. On the palate, it is fresh and beautifully balanced, combining a delicate mineral character with a pleasing saline edge and a lightly creamy texture. The finish is persistent and refined, revealing impressive depth without losing its Alpine freshness. This is a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth for its vibrant fruit and aromatic clarity, but its structure and lees ageing also give it the potential to develop further complexity over the next several years when carefully cellared.

Production
The grapes come from steep, southeast-facing vineyards in Sella, a district of Termeno, situated between 400 and 600 metres above sea level. The calcareous-clay soils are rich in gravel, while warm days, Mediterranean influences, cool nights and Alpine winds create a pronounced diurnal temperature range that helps preserve freshness and aromatic precision. The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed immediately, after which the must undergoes a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in large wooden casks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in the same vessels, followed by gradual racking through natural sedimentation and an extended period of lees ageing until late summer. Further maturation allows the wine to develop its rich, complex structure.

Food & Serving
Serve chilled at approximately 10–12°C. Stoan is an excellent match for roasted or grilled fish, shellfish, poultry, veal and creamy pasta dishes, while its mineral freshness also complements risotto, asparagus and delicately spiced Asian cuisine. Decanting is not essential, but a short period of aeration in a carafe can help reveal the wine’s layered aromas, particularly when enjoyed in its early years.
