Description

Tiefenbrunner’s Linticlarus Pinot Nero Riserva is a refined Alto Adige Pinot Noir, shaped by high-altitude vineyards and a considered maturation in oak. Its graceful fruit, structured palate and long finish showcase the region’s distinctive expression of the variety.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it is intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The bouquet is finely drawn, with aromas of wild berries and cherry. On the palate, the wine is elegant and rounded, with generous yet measured texture and a harmonious, persistent finish. The available information does not specify a drinking window. Its structure and oak maturation suggest it can develop further with careful cellaring, while also offering an inviting profile to enjoy now.

Production
The Pinot Nero comes from sunlit hillside vineyards in Montagna and Corona, at elevations of 450–800 metres and with mainly southern and southwestern exposure. The varied soils include morainic calcareous clay in Corona and sandy clay over dolomite in Montagna. The grapes are hand-harvested and mostly destemmed, with a small portion kept whole; after a cold maceration, fermentation takes place in cement vats. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine spends 12 months in small oak barrels, some new, then a further six months in larger casks before resting in bottle.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C, allowing the wine to show its aromatic detail without muting its freshness. It pairs particularly well with feathered game and mature cheeses; a brief decant can help open the aromas, especially if the bottle is young.

Producer
Tiefenbrunner has been making wine since 1848 and is a long-established name in Alto Adige. Linticlarus reflects the estate’s work with Pinot Nero in the hillside vineyards of Montagna and Corona. The supplied background notes a 93-point James Suckling score for the 2021 vintage; this should not be taken as a rating for the 2022.
