Description

Tenute Orestiadi’s Adeni Perricone is a still red wine from Sicily made with Perricone, a local grape also historically known as Pignatello. Produced in Gibellina, it celebrates a variety closely tied to the area’s wine and clay-making traditions.

Tasting Notes
The nose is marked by red fruit, black pepper and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is elegant yet concentrated, with a dense, fruit-led texture and a persistent finish that brings out notes of liquorice. The wine can develop further bottle-aged character, including more pronounced liquorice notes.

Production
The grapes come from vineyards in Gibellina, in the Valle del Belìce, at elevations of up to 300 metres. Vines are trained using the Guyot method and grow in sandy, iron-rich red soils under the area’s dry microclimate. Hand-harvested from late August to early September, the grapes are gently destemmed and fermented under temperature control in stainless steel. The wine then matures in steel for eight to twelve months, followed by at least ten months of rest. It is made according to vegan criteria.

Food & Serving
Enjoy it with fresh cheeses, Trapani-style rolls or macaroni with pork ragù. Serving temperature and decanting guidance are not specified; serve slightly cool and taste before deciding whether to decant.

Producer
Tenute Orestiadi created Adeni in Gibellina as a tribute to Perricone, a grape with a long history in western Sicily. Its traditional name, Pignatello, is linked to the local pignate—clay vessels made from the region’s distinctive red earth. The winery presents Adeni as one of its leading expressions of the variety.
