Why shop with us?
Tenuta Monteloro Scabrezza is a distinctive Tuscan Pinot Grigio, shaped by the cool, elevated vineyards of the Fiesole Apennines near Florence. A brief period of skin contact gives it an alluring copper hue, while its name recalls a historic water gauge once used in the local valleys—a nod to the estate’s close connection with its landscape.
Tasting Notes
Copper-toned in the glass, Scabrezza opens with expressive aromas of grapefruit and citrus pith, joined by pear, lime blossom and aromatic herbs. The palate is fresh and balanced, with a pronounced mineral thread, crisp fruit and a clean, gently persistent finish.
Its bright, aromatic style is best enjoyed while young, when the fruit and freshness are at their most vivid.
Production
The vineyards lie at around 500 metres above sea level in the Fiesole Apennines, where a cool climate and mineral-rich soils help preserve aromatic intensity and freshness. Grapes are harvested early in the morning to keep them cool and intact. After destemming, a short skin maceration draws out the wine’s copper colour; the grapes are then gently pressed, and the must is naturally clarified at low temperatures. Fermentation and subsequent ageing take place in stainless-steel tanks under cool conditions to preserve the wine’s precise, fruit-led character.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C. Its citrus freshness and mineral finish make it a natural match for seafood, grilled fish, shellfish, fresh cheeses and light vegetable dishes. No decanting is needed; simply open shortly before serving.
Producer
Tenuta Monteloro sits on the slopes of the Fiesole Apennines outside Florence and is part of the Antinori portfolio. The Antinori family has been involved in Tuscan winemaking for centuries, and this estate’s cool-climate setting offers a distinctive expression of the region through aromatic white wines. Scabrezza’s name and label draw on local heritage, linking the wine to the valleys’ historic water gauge and to the literary landscape associated with Dante’s Divine Comedy.
