Production

Trockenbeerenauslese is made from individually selected, highly concentrated grapes—traditionally affected by noble rot and naturally shrivelled on the vine—resulting in exceptionally high levels of sugar and flavour. The 1953 auction bottling reflects the traditional German Prädikat system and the careful selection reserved for wines of the highest quality.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 10–12°C, allowing a little time in the glass for its mature aromas to unfold. Its concentration makes it a natural partner for fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, pâtisserie and blue cheese, while the wine’s acidity can also complement foie gras. Decanting is not usually essential for an old sweet wine, but a gentle decant may help separate any sediment; handle the bottle carefully and open shortly before serving.
