Tasting Notes
The wine is expected to show a deep golden to amber appearance, reflecting its considerable age and concentration. On the palate, it should be rich and luscious, with concentrated fruit sweetness balanced by Riesling’s characteristic acidity. Production
Made from Riesling grapes affected by noble rot and selected at an exceptionally high level of ripeness, Trockenbeerenauslese is among Germany’s most concentrated and rarest Prädikat wines. The grapes are harvested individually as shrivelled berries, then gently pressed to produce a small amount of intensely sweet must. This 1979 wine comes from the prestigious Hochheimer Domdechaney site in the Rheingau and was released as a limited auction bottling by the historic Staatsweingüter Eltville.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 10–12°C to allow the wine’s aromas and mature complexity to develop. It is a natural partner for fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, pâtisserie, blue cheese and foie gras, while its acidity also makes it enjoyable on its own as a contemplative finale. Decanting is not usually necessary for an old dessert wine; instead, open it carefully and pour gently, or allow it to breathe briefly in the bottle before serving.
