Satemo Old Kondoli Qvevri Wine 2020

Satemo Old Kondoli Qvevri 2020 is an amber wine from Kondoli, in Georgia’s Kakheti region, made from Rkatsiteli—one of the country’s oldest and most widely planted grape varieties. Its six months of skin-contact fermentation and ageing in a buried clay qvevri give it a traditional Georgian character and a vivid copper-amber hue.

Tasting Notes
Bright copper-amber in the glass, it opens with inviting aromas of caramel, vanilla and honey, followed by ripe fruit that recalls compote and dried apricot. On the palate, expect the fuller texture and gentle grip typical of white grapes fermented with their skins, seeds and stems. Production
The wine takes its name from the Kakhetian village of Kondoli. Whole Rkatsiteli bunches are hand-selected and lightly crushed before fermenting and maturing for six months in a roughly 600-litre qvevri buried in the ground, where the earth helps maintain a steady, cool temperature. It then continues its maturation in stainless steel. Specific vineyard soils and further harvest details are not provided.

Try it with roasted poultry, grilled vegetables, mushrooms or aged cheeses; its ripe-fruit character and skin-contact structure can also work well with aromatic or spiced dishes.
