Description

San Guido Guidalberto 2024 is a refined Tuscan red from the estate behind Sassicaia, combining equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Named after Guidalberto della Gherardesca, the wine offers an accessible yet serious expression of the Bolgheri coast, with bright fruit, lively energy and polished structure. The 2024 vintage received 92 points from The Wine Advocate.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in appearance, the wine opens with fragrant aromas of ripe cherries, lifted red fruit and subtle spice. On the palate, it is lively and focused, with a fresh acidity that keeps the wine supple and energetic. The mid-palate shows notable intensity, while gently drying tannins provide grip and definition without overwhelming the fruit. Enjoyable in its youth, Guidalberto 2024 should also develop added complexity over the next several years when properly stored.

Production
Produced at Tenuta San Guido in Tuscany’s coastal Bolgheri region, Guidalberto reflects the estate’s Mediterranean terroir and the area’s aptitude for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The 2024 blend is made in equal parts from these two varieties. Specific details regarding harvesting and vinification for this vintage have not been provided, but the finished wine shows a clear balance between fresh acidity, expressive fruit and structured tannins.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to come to temperature. Guidalberto pairs well with grilled or roasted meats, herb-crusted lamb, veal, beef stew and pasta with rich tomato or mushroom sauces. It can be enjoyed directly after opening, though decanting for 30–60 minutes will help soften the tannins and open the wine’s aromatic profile, particularly when served young.

Producer
Tenuta San Guido is one of Tuscany’s most renowned estates and the producer of Sassicaia, one of Italy’s landmark wines. Located in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, the estate has played a defining role in establishing the region’s international reputation for Bordeaux-inspired red blends. Guidalberto was introduced as a more approachable counterpart to Sassicaia, while retaining the precision, elegance and coastal character associated with San Guido.
