Description
Robert Weil’s 2010 Kiedrich Turmberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese is an exceptionally rare and concentrated sweet wine from one of the Rheingau’s most distinguished estates. Made from individually selected, naturally shrivelled Riesling grapes, it combines remarkable richness with the freshness and precision that define great German Riesling. The Kiedrich Turmberg vineyard is one of the historic sites surrounding the village of Kiedrich and is particularly prized for producing wines of depth and longevity.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep, luminous golden colour. Its intense bouquet reveals honey, ripe peach, apricot and candied citrus, with further layers of dried fruit and a subtle botrytised complexity. On the palate, it is sumptuous and full-bodied, with concentrated sweetness balanced by vibrant Riesling acidity. The finish is exceptionally long, leaving notes of honeyed fruit and citrus zest. With its balance and concentration, this 2010 Trockenbeerenauslese has outstanding ageing potential and can continue to develop for many years in a well-stored bottle.
Production
The grapes come from the steep Kiedrich Turmberg vineyard in the Rheingau, where the site’s mineral-rich soils and favourable sun exposure help Riesling achieve exceptional ripeness while retaining freshness. For a Trockenbeerenauslese, only the most concentrated grapes are selected, typically those affected by noble rot and naturally shrivelled on the vine. The fruit is harvested by hand in repeated, highly selective passes and gently vinified to preserve its aromatic purity, concentration and balance.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This luxurious Riesling is an excellent match for fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, peach or apricot tarts and blue cheese, while its acidity also makes it a refined partner for foie gras and richly spiced dishes. It can be enjoyed without decanting; simply allow the wine a little time in the glass to reveal its full aromatic complexity.
