Renato Fenocchio Barbaresco Rombone 2021 is a refined expression of Nebbiolo from one of Piedmont’s celebrated Barbaresco crus. Combining the grape’s hallmark perfume, structure and longevity with the character of the Rombone vineyard, it offers an elegant snapshot of the 2021 vintage and the long-standing tradition of Barbaresco DOCG.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a bright garnet-red colour with emerging brick-red highlights. Its nose is classically Nebbiolo, revealing aromas of red cherries, dried rose petals and violets alongside subtle notes of wild herbs, liquorice, spice and earthy undertones. On the palate, it is poised and medium to full-bodied, with lively acidity, polished yet distinctly present tannins and flavours of sour cherry, raspberry, dried flowers and savoury spice. The finish is long and energetic, suggesting excellent development potential. It can be enjoyed now with decanting, but should gain further complexity over the next decade or more when carefully stored.

Production
Made from Nebbiolo grown in the Rombone area of Barbaresco, the wine reflects the region’s hillside vineyards, calcareous soils and cool continental climate. The combination of sunlight, elevation and diurnal temperature variation helps preserve Nebbiolo’s aromatic lift while building structure. In keeping with the traditional character associated with Barbaresco, the wine is crafted to emphasise purity of fruit, natural freshness and age-worthy tannins, followed by extended maturation before release.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to come gradually to temperature. A decanting period of 30–60 minutes is recommended for the 2021 vintage, particularly when enjoyed young. Its structure and savoury depth make it an excellent partner for truffle dishes, tajarin with rich ragù, braised beef, roasted game, porcini mushrooms and mature cheeses.
