Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep golden hue, reflecting its considerable age and concentration. Its aromatic profile is layered and expressive, with ripe peach, apricot, honey and delicate dried-fruit notes, complemented by a subtle mineral and spicy complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, with luscious sweetness supported by refreshing Riesling acidity. The balance remains remarkably poised, leading to a long, graceful finish marked by mineral freshness, gentle spice and lingering stone-fruit flavours. As a mature 1990 Auslese, it is ready to enjoy now, while well-preserved bottles may continue to evolve in bottle.

Production
The Bernkasteler Doctor is a steep, highly regarded Mosel vineyard traditionally associated with slate soils, which help lend Riesling its characteristic mineral precision. As an Auslese, the wine was made from specially selected, very ripe grapes harvested at a high level of natural sweetness. The fruit was gently vinified to preserve its aromatic intensity and balanced by the lively acidity typical of Riesling from the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This mature Auslese is an excellent partner for fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, apple or apricot tarts, and blue or washed-rind cheeses; it can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif. Decanting is not usually necessary, although carefully standing the bottle upright before opening and pouring gently can help separate any natural sediment that may have formed over time.

Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is one of the historic names of the Mosel, with roots reaching back to the 14th century. The estate is particularly associated with distinguished sites along the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer, and has long been recognised for producing Rieslings that combine site expression, precision and ageing potential.
