Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby-red colour with violet reflections. The nose is expressive, revealing aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum alongside floral nuances, peppery spice and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with juicy dark-fruit flavours, fresh acidity and gently firm tannins that provide structure without overwhelming the fruit. A savoury, lightly herbal finish adds complexity. It is enjoyable in its youth, while careful cellaring over the next few years should allow the tannins and secondary notes to become more integrated.

Production
The grapes are grown in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where the region’s cool climate and varied soils help preserve Refosco’s characteristic freshness and aromatic intensity. The fruit is harvested at optimum ripeness and vinified to retain the variety’s natural colour, fruit expression and lively acidity, with maturation designed to soften the structure while keeping the wine distinctly regional.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C, allowing the wine to open gradually in the glass. It pairs particularly well with grilled sausages, roast pork, braised meats, game, mushroom dishes and hearty pasta with tomato or ragù sauces. Decanting is not essential for the 2021 vintage, but 20–30 minutes in a decanter can help reveal its fruit and savoury aromas.
