Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2018 (Giftbox)

Pol Roger’s Sir Winston Churchill 2018 is the house’s prestige cuvée, created in tribute to the British statesman and devoted Champagne admirer. Made from Pol Roger’s finest Grand Cru sites, it is Pinot Noir-led with Chardonnay in support, presented in a giftbox and crafted in the full-bodied, complex, age-worthy style Churchill prized.

Tasting Notes
Bright golden in the glass, with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose layers citrus and white flowers with ripe stone fruit, toasted hazelnut and brioche, followed by subtle hints of honey and spice.

Production
The 2018 vintage followed a warm, sunny growing season that produced fully ripe grapes while preserving notable freshness. The fruit comes exclusively from Pol Roger’s finest Grand Cru vineyards. The precise blend is kept secret, though Pinot Noir provides the backbone, complemented by Chardonnay; details of harvesting and vinification are not provided.

Food & Serving
Its concentration and freshness make it a fine match for lobster, scallops, roast poultry or richly flavoured fish, and it can also be enjoyed on its own for a special occasion. Serve at around 10–12°C to reveal its aromas without losing its freshness. Rather than decanting, let the Champagne open gradually in the glass.
