Pietradolce Etna Rosso 2024

Pietradolce Etna Rosso 2024 is a refined Sicilian red made exclusively from Nerello Mascalese, the signature grape of Mount Etna. Light in colour yet rich in character, it combines bright fruit, delicate floral notes and a distinctly volcanic sense of place with the elegance and finesse for which Etna wines are increasingly celebrated.

Tasting Notes
Transparent and remarkably pale ruby-red in appearance, this wine has an inviting nose of pomegranate, iris and pink pepper, with a subtle impression of spice. The palate is distinctly fruit-driven, supported by a gently tannic texture that becomes more pronounced on the finish. A warm, lingering note adds depth and character to the aftertaste, while the wine’s freshness and structure give it good short- to medium-term ageing potential.

Production
Produced in Sicily’s Etna region from 100% Nerello Mascalese, the wine reflects the grape’s ability to express the high-altitude, volcanic terroir of Mount Etna. The grapes undergo an 18-day maceration on their skins to build colour, aroma and structure, followed by three months of maturation in fine-grained, lightly toasted French oak barrels. Harvesting details are not specified, but the restrained oak ageing preserves the variety’s naturally delicate fruit and mineral character.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 14–16°C to highlight its freshness and aromatic finesse. It is a versatile partner for grilled tuna, roasted poultry, veal, mushroom dishes, aubergine, tomato-based pasta and Sicilian-inspired cuisine. Decanting is not essential, although 20–30 minutes in a carafe can help open the floral and spicy aromas, particularly when enjoyed young.
