Description
Philippe Fourrier Champagne Pinot Meunier Brut offers a distinctive expression of one of Champagne’s most characterful varieties. Made in a dry Brut style, it combines the freshness and fine bubbles expected of Champagne with Pinot Meunier’s generous fruit, rounded texture and approachable personality.
Tasting Notes
Pale golden in appearance, with a lively stream of delicate bubbles. The nose is expected to show inviting aromas of orchard fruit, ripe pear and apple, complemented by subtle floral and brioche notes. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with flavours of crisp fruit, gentle creaminess and a clean, refreshing finish. As a Brut Champagne without a vintage specified, it is best enjoyed for its youthful freshness rather than extended cellaring.
Production
Pinot Meunier thrives in Champagne’s cool climate, where the region’s chalky and clay-rich soils help preserve freshness while contributing texture and minerality. The grapes are gently pressed and traditionally fermented before a second fermentation in bottle creates the wine’s fine mousse. Extended contact with the lees adds depth and subtle toastiness, while dosage balances the wine in the Brut style.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. It is an excellent aperitif and pairs especially well with seafood, oysters, smoked salmon, pâté, charcuterie and lightly dressed salads. Its fruit-forward profile also works with roast poultry and soft, mildly flavoured cheeses. Decanting is not recommended; serve directly from a properly chilled bottle, using Champagne flutes or white-wine glasses to best appreciate its aromas.
Producer
Philippe Fourrier is a Champagne producer associated with the Côte des Bar, a region increasingly recognised for its expressive, fruit-driven wines and strong Pinot-based character. The house’s focus on Pinot Meunier highlights the grape’s versatility beyond its traditional supporting role in Champagne blends. Specific details about the estate’s history and awards are not provided here.
