Pfitscher Pinot Nero Matan Riserva 2023

Pfitscher Pinot Nero Matan Riserva 2023 is an elegant mountain Pinot Noir from Montagna in Alto Adige, where steep, high-altitude vineyards shape its concentrated fruit and refined structure. Made by a family-run producer with roots dating back to 1861, it offers a distinctive expression of the region’s alpine terroir.

Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in colour, the wine opens with aromas of blackberry, forest floor and liquorice, complemented by delicate spice. The palate is dry and velvety, with medium body, carefully balanced tannins and a harmonious, lingering finish.

Production
The grapes come from steep vineyards around 600 metres above sea level in Montagna. Marked day-to-night temperature changes help preserve freshness while building fruit concentration. Temperature-controlled fermentation lasts around two weeks, with regular cap management to encourage measured extraction. The wine then matures for more than 12 months in oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing to bring its flavours and structure into balance.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C, with a little time in the glass; a short decant can help the wine open up. Pair it with red meat, game or mature cheeses.
