Description

Pascal Agrapart Brut 7 Crus NV is a finely crafted grower Champagne that showcases fruit from seven villages, bringing together the elegance of the Côte des Blancs with a touch of structure from Pinot Noir. Based primarily on the 2022 harvest with reserve wines from 2021, it offers a generous, approachable style without losing precision or finesse. As the only cuvée in the Agrapart range to include fruit from outside the Côte des Blancs, 7 Crus stands slightly apart in personality, yet remains deeply rooted in the estate’s artisanal philosophy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Brut 7 Crus NV shows a pale lemon-gold hue with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose opens immediately with inviting aromas of white peach, ripe pear and fresh bread dough, supported by hints of citrus zest and a subtle chalky undertone. There’s an appealing combination of ripeness and clarity that makes the wine feel both welcoming and refined. On the palate, it is full and textural, with a creamy mid-palate framed by juicy yet lively acidity. Flavours of stone fruit, orchard apple and pear are layered with notes of brioche, fresh pastry and a delicate saline edge that brings length and refreshment. The dosage of around 5 g/L is perfectly judged, giving roundness without sweetness. Enjoyed now, it shows a wonderfully immediate, open-knit character, but it will continue to harmonise and gain complexity over the next 3–5 years if stored well.

Production
Brut 7 Crus NV is sourced from seven villages, primarily in the Côte des Blancs, with the notable addition of around 10% Pinot Noir from Avenay-Val-d'Or, which adds depth and a gentle backbone to the predominantly Chardonnay blend. The cuvée is based 50% on the 2022 vintage, complemented by reserve wines from 2021, allowing Agrapart to balance freshness with subtle maturity. As with all Pascal Agrapart wines, the fruit is farmed with great attention to soil health and vine balance, then harvested by hand to ensure optimal selection. The wine ferments with indigenous yeasts, and the different parcels are vinified separately before blending to highlight the individual terroirs’ character. After the secondary fermentation in bottle, it is aged on lees before disgorgement, which in this release took place in October 2024, with a carefully measured low dosage of 5 g/L to preserve tension and purity.

Food & Serving
This cuvée’s combination of fruit richness and bright acidity makes it highly versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with oysters, scallops, and shellfish, as well as lightly grilled fish, sushi, and sashimi. The textural depth also works well with roast chicken, charcuterie, soft cheeses such as Brie or Chaource, and simple dishes featuring mushrooms or cream sauces. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F); a few minutes in the glass will allow the aromas of peach, pear and brioche to unfurl. Decanting is not necessary, but pouring into larger white wine glasses rather than narrow flutes will enhance its complexity and mouthfeel.

Producer
Pascal Agrapart is one of the benchmark grower-producers in Champagne, based in the grand cru village of Avize in the Côte des Blancs. The domaine, founded in the late 19th century, has become renowned under Pascal Agrapart’s stewardship for its meticulous vineyard work, low-intervention philosophy and terroir-driven Champagnes that express individual villages and lieux-dits with great clarity. Working primarily with old-vine Chardonnay and practicing sustainable, largely organic viticulture, Agrapart has earned a reputation among sommeliers and collectors for precision, depth and authenticity. While most of the range focuses on pure Côte des Blancs Chardonnay, cuvées like 7 Crus broaden the picture, offering a slightly more approachable and fruit-forward entry point into one of Champagne’s most respected artisan estates.
