Pascal Agrapart Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Vénus 2019

Pascal Agrapart’s Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Vénus 2019 is a rare and compelling expression of Avize Chardonnay, sourced from a small parcel planted in 1959. Bottled as Brut Nature, it contains no dosage, allowing the wine’s chalky Grand Cru character, precision and layered complexity to take centre stage.

Tasting Notes
Bright and finely textured in the glass, the 2019 Vénus opens with an intricate nose of white pepper, chalk dust, fresh mint and crushed stones. On the palate, it is remarkably composed and expansive, combining mineral intensity with vibrant freshness and a beautifully integrated mousse. Every element feels precisely balanced, with impressive depth and length. Although already remarkably expressive, its concentration and structure suggest excellent potential for further development in bottle over the coming years.

Production
The fruit comes from a small, distinguished parcel in Avize, one of Champagne’s renowned Grand Cru villages, where the Chardonnay vines were planted in 1959. The wine is made in a low-intervention style that places the vineyard firmly at the forefront, and it is released as Brut Nature without dosage. This bottle was disgorged in June 2025; as with the other releases, disgorgement dates may vary during the year.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C in a white-wine glass to reveal the wine’s layered aromas and mineral character. It is an excellent partner for oysters, scallops, sashimi, grilled turbot and other delicate seafood, while its depth also suits roast poultry and dishes featuring fresh herbs. Decanting is not essential, but a brief pour into a carafe can help open the wine if enjoyed soon after serving.
