Description

Dom Pérignon Oenothèque 1996 is a remarkable release from one of Champagne’s most iconic houses, showing the extraordinary transformation this vintage has undergone with time. Once austere in its youth, it now reveals outstanding precision, energy, and elegance, making it a benchmark example of mature prestige Champagne.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it presents a refined, luminous profile with remarkable intensity and finesse. The nose and palate unfold with lemon, slate, oyster shell, and white flowers, creating a layered expression that is both vibrant and deeply mineral. The texture is beautifully sculpted, with a high level of tension and clarity that carries the wine with impressive length. This is a Champagne at a very high level, and while it is already expressive, it still has the structure to continue evolving gracefully with further cellaring.

Production
Produced in Champagne, France, from a vintage celebrated for its concentration and structure, this Oenothèque release reflects the region’s chalk-driven terroir and the patient craftsmanship of extended aging. Dom Pérignon is known for selecting only the best grapes from outstanding harvests, with long lees aging contributing to the wine’s complexity and layered depth.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with refined dishes such as oysters, shellfish, sashimi, caviar, or delicate white fish, where the wine’s mineral drive and freshness can shine. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not recommended for Champagne of this style unless you wish to soften the initial tension very slightly.

Producer
Moët & Chandon is one of Champagne’s most historic and influential houses, with Dom Pérignon standing as its most prestigious cuvée. Named after the legendary Benedictine monk often associated with early Champagne development, the label has become synonymous with excellence, innovation, and age-worthy prestige Champagne.
