Mirafiore Langhe Nascetta 2022

Mirafiore Langhe Nascetta 2022 is a distinctive white wine from Piedmont, made from Nascetta, a rare indigenous grape variety historically associated with the Langhe. Fresh, aromatic and marked by the character of its origin, it offers an appealing alternative to the region’s better-known red wines and showcases Mirafiore’s commitment to Piedmontese heritage.

Tasting Notes
The wine has a bright, straw-yellow appearance with youthful golden highlights. On the nose, it combines citrus and white-fleshed fruit with delicate floral tones and subtle herbal notes. The palate is fresh and pleasantly textured, balancing lively acidity with flavours of lemon, pear and orchard fruit, followed by a clean, gently mineral finish. Nascetta is best appreciated in its youth, when its freshness and aromatic clarity are at their most pronounced. In a good vintage, it can also develop additional complexity over the next few years, with more pronounced herbal and mineral nuances.

Production
Produced in the Langhe hills of Piedmont from Nascetta, an indigenous variety that was once nearly forgotten before being revived by local producers. The region’s hillside vineyards benefit from a continental climate, sunny days and cool night-time temperatures, helping the grapes retain their natural acidity and aromatic character. The 2022 vintage was vinified to preserve the grape’s freshness and varietal expression, with careful handling from harvest through fermentation.

Food & Serving
Serve chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its bright acidity and lightly aromatic profile make it an excellent partner for seafood, shellfish, sushi, fresh cheeses, vegetable antipasti and herb-focused dishes. It also works well with lighter pasta dishes and Piedmontese specialities where a fresh, versatile white is preferred. Decanting is not normally necessary, although allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass can reveal additional aromatic detail.

Casa E. di Mirafiore is one of Piedmont’s historic wine names, founded in the nineteenth century by Emanuele Alberto di Mirafiore, son of King Vittorio Emanuele II. The estate has played an important role in promoting the wines of the Langhe, particularly through its long association with traditional Piedmontese varieties and winemaking. Today, Mirafiore combines this heritage with a focus on expressing the character of the region’s vineyards.
