Description

Max Ferd. Richter’s 2007 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese is a rare and exceptionally concentrated sweet wine from one of the Mosel’s most respected vineyards. Made in the noble Trockenbeerenauslese style from individually selected, naturally shrivelled grapes, it combines remarkable richness with the vibrant acidity that gives great Mosel Rieslings their longevity. Presented in a half bottle, it is an elegant choice for a special occasion or a refined after-dinner pour.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a luminous golden colour, reflecting both its concentration and maturity. Its expressive bouquet brings together ripe yellow fruit, honey and delicate spice, with the kind of depth and complexity expected from a great late-harvest Riesling. On the palate, it is intensely sweet, full-bodied and richly textured, yet balanced by refreshing acidity. Concentrated fruit and honeyed flavours lead into a long, harmonious finish. Already mature and highly enjoyable, this 2007 Trockenbeerenauslese also has the structure to develop further in a well-kept cellar for many years.

Production
Graacher Domprobst is a steep, highly regarded vineyard site in the Mosel, where the cool climate and slate-rich soils help Riesling retain its defining freshness. Trockenbeerenauslese is produced from exceptionally ripe grapes that have naturally concentrated on the vine, often with the influence of noble rot. The grapes are selected with great care before being gently pressed and fermented to create a small, intensely sweet wine balanced by pronounced Mosel acidity.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This luxurious Riesling is delicious with fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, apple tart, blue cheese or foie gras, while its freshness also allows it to work beautifully as an aperitif. Decanting is not generally necessary, although carefully opening the bottle shortly before serving can allow its aromas to unfold. The 0.375-litre format is ideal for serving alongside dessert or sharing between two to four guests.

Producer
Max Ferd. Richter is a historic family estate in the Mosel, with roots reaching back to 1680. Based in the village of Mülheim, the winery is known for producing elegant, long-lived Rieslings from some of the region’s finest steep vineyard sites. Its wines are particularly valued for their combination of precision, mineral character and ageing potential, with noble sweet wines such as this Graacher Domprobst Trockenbeerenauslese representing the estate’s most concentrated and collectible expressions.
