Description
Massolino’s Dolcetto d’Alba is a classic Langhe red from a historic Serralunga d’Alba producer, offering vibrant fruit, an elegant texture and the approachable character Dolcetto is known for. Made from 100% Dolcetto, it provides a fresh and expressive introduction to the Piedmontese wines of the region. Please note that the supplied information refers to both the 2025 and 2024 vintages; the vintage should be confirmed with the seller before purchase.
Tasting Notes
The wine has a deep ruby-red colour with intense violet highlights. Its bouquet is fresh, sweet and distinctly vinous, led by ripe red and dark fruit aromas, with an inviting, youthful character.
On the palate, it opens with a broad, warm impression before revealing concentrated fruit and an elegant, balanced structure. The finish is long, pleasant and fruit-driven. Dolcetto is generally best enjoyed in its youth, when its lively fruit and freshness are at their most expressive, although it can develop additional softness over the short term.
Production
Produced in Serralunga d’Alba in Piedmont, an area renowned for its distinctive Langhe wines and prestigious Barolo vineyards. This bottling is made entirely from Dolcetto, a traditional local variety valued for its fresh, fruit-forward style. Specific harvesting and vinification details have not been provided.
Food & Serving
Serve slightly cool, at around 14–16°C, to highlight the wine’s freshness and supple fruit. It is a natural match for Piedmontese antipasti, cured meats, fresh pasta with tomato or meat sauces, pizza, grilled sausages and roast poultry. Decanting is not normally necessary; simply open shortly before serving, or give the wine a brief airing if desired.
Producer
Massolino has been producing wine in Serralunga d’Alba since 1896 and is one of the established names of the Langhe. The family estate is particularly recognised for its Barolo, including the celebrated Vigna Rionda cru, while also championing the region’s traditional wines such as Dolcetto d’Alba. Its long history, close connection to the local terroir and continued focus on classic Piedmontese varieties give this wine a strong sense of place.
