M. Chapoutier Crozes Hermitage Les Meysonniers 2024 is an organic Syrah from one of the Rhône Valley’s most respected names, offering a pure and expressive take on Crozes-Hermitage. Crafted from mature vines and shaped by a careful, fruit-focused élevage, it combines regional authenticity with the finesse and depth that have long defined the Chapoutier style.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, intense purple-red color. The nose opens with clear aromas of red berries, blackcurrant, and raspberry, lifted by delicate violet notes and a subtle touch of spice.
On the palate, it is broad and rounded, with a smooth texture and a generous fruit profile. The finish brings hints of cooked fruit and vanilla, adding warmth and length. Thanks to its structure and balance, it has excellent aging potential and can develop beautifully for 10 to 15 years, especially with an hour of decanting when young.
Production
This wine comes from the Crozes-Hermitage appellation in the northern Rhône Valley, where Syrah thrives on south-facing vineyards with an average vine age of at least 25 years. The soils are a mix of gravelly terrain, which helps with drainage while contributing aromatic precision and structure.
Harvesting is done by hand at full ripeness. In the cellar, the wine undergoes careful pump-overs in concrete vats to ensure balanced extraction of color and aroma, followed by around 12 months of aging in concrete to preserve the purity of the fruit and the variety’s natural softness.
Food & Serving
This Syrah pairs well with roasted lamb, grilled beef, duck breast, game dishes, and hearty mushroom-based plates. It also works nicely with aged cheeses and rustic French cuisine. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decant for about one hour if drinking it young to help it खुल up fully.
Producer
M. Chapoutier is one of the most iconic producers in the Rhône Valley, with a long history of championing terroir-driven wines and sustainable viticulture. Founded by Michel Chapoutier’s family and now internationally recognized, the house has earned a strong reputation for both quality and authenticity, with a particular strength in expressive Rhône Syrah. Its wines are consistently among the region’s benchmark bottlings, and Les Meysonniers is no exception.
